This week has been really long, feels like I've been here forever. I guess it's because we have been studying everything we have learned for the exam. It's just very stressful knowing its coming up this Thursday. Alex, my tutor, has been a really great help going over chapters in the book and going over all the policies. I hope I do well- I've been studying a lot. -Destiney
The other day we met a woman named Christine Cray, who works with Pittsburgh Public Schools. She was a really nice woman who talked to us and asked questions about our experiences with Carlow, and NLA. She informed us on how she wanted to give school students from different schools resources and and places to go after school. She asked us our ideas on different things Pittsburgh Public Schools would be able to do and improve on to give kids things, to do after shool and during the summer. For example, more college classes for teens, something to keep them busy during the summer. Overall, the meeting was nice, we were able to give her ideas, and she was able to tell us what she had in mind. -Jasmine
Mr. Rodney Akers, an attorney who attended Harvard Law School and is now a professor at Pitt and a deputy general for the Harrisburg council, spoke to our class today. He talked about the importance of context in the workplace, as in the way you say things and the way they’re presented. He also talked about ethics in the workplace and what you’re supposed to do in certain situations. He gave us five of the most common unethical behaviors in the workplace. They are: missing company time, abusive behavior, employee theft, dishonesty with employees, and violating your organization’s internet policy. These things are all taken seriously and one of the procedures put in place is discipline. His presentation was really good overall and contained some very valuable information. He's also close friends with Michelle obama!!!!!

Week 3 at carlowThis is our third week of Resource Management and so far it's been both challenging and fun. The resources here really enhance your learning and writing. It can become overwhelming with class work and projects but it's okay because of the resources we have here at Carlow. For example, the Hopkins Lab has a presentation room where you are able to practice and record your class presentations. Another major resource we use is the library and the library staff. They are more than willing to help with projects and assignments. It's always good to ask questions; even if you think you know it's better to have confirmation and understanding about different situations.
